Recommended Procedures When Requesting a Snake Rescue and Relocation
Placing a Rescue Call
- Call or text the Snake Wranglers' primary number, Bruce Ireland @ 619-204-5117.
- Alternatively you can call or text one of our other Wranglers directly if you have been provided with their number.
- To ensure the fastest response it is recommended that you both call and text.
- If you are unable to immediately reach your Wrangler, please call the main phone number, leaving a message if necessary.
- Please text photos so we can identify the type of snake and know its location.
Rescue Call Details
- When you submit a snake rescue call or text, please be sure to provide as much detail as possible.
- Provide your name and community location.
- Describe the snake, its size and its location on your property.
- Provide your phone number and indicate if you can receive texts on this number.
- Provide your address and any gate codes that are required to gain access.
- If placing a voice call and leaving a message, SPEAK CLEARLY, and repeat your phone number.
- If sending a text, please attach a photo of the snake if possible.
Keep the snake in sight
About 20% of our snake rescue calls fail because the snake has disappeared by the time our Wrangler arrives. PLEASE KEEP AN EYE ON THE SNAKE UNTIL OUR WRANGLER GETS THERE.
At busy times or if you are in a remote location, response times can sometimes take a while so please be patient. If the snake disappears, please notify the responding Wrangler immediately to save an unnecessary trip.
The all-volunteer Snake Wranglers are hopeful that you will call us before calling the Fire Department when encountering an unwanted snake. Most Fire Department crews are unequipped to capture and relocate snakes, so they must kill them. We safely relocate snakes to remote locations.
